I ordered the book and read straight through in 48 hours - I couldn't put it down. Miracle after miracle make this such an amazing story. Neil's struggles and story are just the beginning. The love, the respect, the determination, the faith - I struggled at times to decide to laugh or cry with him. And, the creation of FenBlock and realization of how many lives will be saved. The reality that opioid addicts now have a choice - a way out. The story is just the beginning of something so much bigger! Thank God for Neil, this book and FenBlock!

I'm not even into chapter 5 and I am ordering copies to give to people I know. I don't have any particular connection with addiction, so I am not driven by that aspect of the story. What has grabbed my attention is Neil's ability to see beyond pain and suffering with certainty that God has a greater plan. His strength and clarity, his razor-sharp ability to cut through life's challenges to see a greater plan is amazing. I want to be like Neil in the face of adversity. Every person confronts challenges in life, our response to those challenges is what sets us apart. We are called to trust in God with all our heart; Neil shows us what that can look like.

The world has not found enough adversity to stop Neil. I never once thought his battle with cancer and the eventual loss of his leg would be enough to squash his humor and enthusiasm for life, and it has not. Then came the tough battle with opioids to which he not only found a way to "just say 'NO' ", but did so by creating a path to help others defeat the monkey on their backs. Neil proves that addicts do have a choice. He makes no claim it is an easy path. He makes no excuses. He just takes control and wrings the bane by its neck. Kudos and great respect to his wife Darlene for the unfathomable depths of support she has given.
